Being on twitter has its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is that you are easily distracted into venturing off onto a 3 hour hiatus  and  later realizing you didn’t even accomplish what you set out to do! The advantage, it’s all cool stuff I would’ve never found unless I spent 4 times the amount of hours searching google. One of the best things I have found is that there a ton of free fonts out there! For me, a new font gives me inspiration to create something around it and come up with something new and exciting. Typography has really taken off the past few years and has become such an inspiring art form.

I have decided to make a collection myself of all the resources that I have come across in the past and post them here so you don’t find yourself  on a 3 hour hunt for the right font for your project.

1. Smashing Magazine – One of the biggest resources on the web and where I spend alot of my free time.
2. BitBox – Large resource of some really cool stuff including Photoshop & Illustrator goodies.
3. Tripwire Magazine – Just found this one last week. Very good!
4. Templatetuts – Big foundry of fonts and web design resources.
5. Kreative Garden – Cool funfreebies.
6. 2ExpertsDesign – A list of 146 free grunge fonts.
7. FontFabric – A small collection of some really interesting fonts.
8. Font Squirrel – Awesome collection of hand drawn fonts.
9. 1stWebDesigner – 52 Really high quality free fonts.
10. Six Revisions -45 Beautiful free fonts for modern design trends.
11. daFont – Huge database of free fonts.
12. 1001 Fonts – Another huge database of free fonts.
13. 1001 Free Fonts – Free fonts for Windows and MacIntosh.
14. Abstract Fonts – Free abstract fonts.
15. Simply the Best Fonts – Categorized database of free fonts.
